Nature Connect Walk 25/01/2023
Walk to ground at the freeman- I would love to share this feedback from one of the earliest walks which was a grounding mindfulness walk.
•“I took part in one of Sally’s Grounding Walks from the Freeman Hospital, I rushed away from my desk and that never ending stream of emails, it was a dull and wet day and I considered waiting for the next one, but I must say, I loved it!
We met at the Rainbow crossing at the main entrance to the Freeman and we walked across the road to Paddy Freeman Park. Sally told me I was to switch my mind off from work for the next 45 mins. Even though I have visited this park many times, I have never experienced it in quite the same way. Sally stopped at regular intervals and we discussed the species of birds and plants in view. Sally also lead some “grounding exercises”, something I hadn’t tried before. They were so simple yet surprised me at how effective they were. We talked about what we could see, hear, touch, smell and taste from our surroundings. I usually jog though this park, with my attention on my Garmin, but today the birds and plants came into clearer view for me and the crashing waterfall seemed louder as it was in full flow following recent rains.
I came away feeling better, both mentally and physically, even my stiff shoulders stopped aching for a while! I would definitely recommend a grounding walk with Sally as a way to boost your mental and physical wellbeing, I intend to make it a regular activity to break up my busy week and I also plan to try to replicate the activity with my son.”
